Frank "Shakespeare" VanZant is no newcomer to vintage base ball. The veteran ballist began his vintage career with the Huntington Suffolks, and when their schedule became minimal, decided to join the Atlantics, "a solid team with a great reputation as an active and gentlemanly team". Frank's baseball background is extensive, being a pitcher and captain at George Washington University in DC several years ago, playing in a men's hardball league, and now still playing softball in a church league. He swears his fast ball used to reach at least the speed limit. For Atlantic, he can usually be found either at shortstop, third base, or roaming the outfield, and is always found helping out before and after games. One of his favorite memories was the trip to New Jersey, sweeping both games of a doubleheader after an early season drubbing by the same team. No one is certain whether he got the name from William or if William got it from him, as both are poets with a couple of books out. In fact, in his creative mind, he can "only imagine" how "Tree" answered some of the profile questions. In his spare time, "Shakes" is the Director of the Greenhouse Alternative High School in Rockville Centre, a place for kids to get a second chance. |
