Greg "Hawk" Dengel first played with the Atlantics on their 2000 trip to Canada after hearing about them from a fellow player. En route it was said that he had eyes like a hawk for sights he was pointing out along the way, and "Hawk" was born. A huge fan of the history of baseball Hawk, was instantly swept up by the fun and fulfillment of playing vintage base ball. He has played every position for Atlantic, and recently fulfilled his dream of playing all of them in a nine inning game. Hawk prides himself on his ability to be get on base, and is willing to make his first ‘by hook or by crook.’ Scoring from second on a base hit is his favorite base ball play, and one which his teammates never tire of seeing. His speed is almost matched by his power-hitting ability, as he was once able to hit for the cycle. Hawk also loves joking around with his teammates, and takes great pride in watching one of them make a great defensive play. Greg honed his skills through little league, years of stickball, and some softball in college, but found his real baseball passion with the ABBC. He is a huge Mets fan who travels each year to a few MLB stadiums in hopes of hitting them all. He resides in New Jersey, where he has a communications degree, but currently works as a Project Engineer with Precision Design Services. Between games Greg does community theatre shows, sings with an acapella group, does some puppeteering, and has been known to make action figures of other Atlantics. |
