Atlantic travelled to Cooperstown to participate in the John Clarkson Classic Invitational Tournament, with the games being played on both Doubleday Field and the Farmers' Museum grounds. Playing against the Saginaw Old Golds, the New York Gothams, the Essex BBC, and the Mudville Nine, Atlantic won all four games to capture the beautiful Memorial Plaque. In the first game, Atlantic gave up 3 runs in the top of the first inning, then shut down the Old Golds with 8 whitewashes to forge to a 16-3 victory. Shakespeare and Dreambucket led the way with 3 hits and 3 aces each, and Tree picked up the victory.

In the second game, Atlantic again gave up runs in the top of the first, this time 4 runs to Gotham, then shut them down with just one more run over the next 8 innings to secure a 17-5 victory. Shakespeare went 4 for 4 with 3 more aces, and TC, Dreambucket, and Shorty all had doubles among their 3 hits. Nice&Easy shook off the 4-run first to settle down and pick up the victory.

In the third contest, Atlantic and Essex traded runs early as the lead exchanged hands several times before Atlantic took charge to grab a 9-7 victory. Red-hot Shakespeare again went 4 for 4 to lead Atlantic, and Hammy held Essex to just 1 run over the final 5 innings to gain the complete game win in what turned out to be the tournament clinching victory for Atlantic.

Atlantic then beat the Mudville Nine in the final contest 24-3 to complete the tournament at 4-0. Dreambucket had 4 hits with 2 doubles and 2 aces, and Butcher had 3 hits with a triple and 2 aces. Pigtail gave up just 2 runs over the first 7 innings to pick up the win.

At the conclusion of the tournament, Atlantic was presented with the John Clarkson Classic Memorial Plaque. Shakespeare finished the weekend with 13 hits and 11 aces to lead all ballists, and was presented a tournament plaque for his accomplishment.

The New York Gothams and Flemington Neshanock once again joined Atlantic for the annual 'Old Dutch' Memorial Games. The first contest saw Atlantic take on Gotham. Atlantic took advantage of numerous misplays by the rebuilding Gotham team for a 27-10 victory. Flash led Atlantic with 4 hits, including 2 doubles, a triple, and 3 aces. TC (2 aces), Dreambucket (triple, home run, 5 aces), Willy Mo, Hammy, and Pigtail (3 aces) had 3 hits each. Pigtail picked up the victory.

In between games, Atlantic held a short ceremony in memory of Al 'Old Dutch' Dieckmann, aptly described as one of the 'Fathers of Vintage Base Ball'. Following a moment of silence, Atlantic then wished 'Money' well for his move to Florida, with its 12-month base ball season, and presented him with an inscribed game ball. We returned to the games, with Atlantic facing Neshanock. Atlantic again scored early and often as it sailed to a 21-2 victory. Billy Goat (3 aces), Nice&Easy, and Pigtail (3 aces) each had 3 hits for Atlantic. TC added a double and 3 aces, and Shakespeare had a home run. Tree held Neshanock to just 2 solo runs for the victory, and Money pitched a scoreless 9th inning.

Atlantic crossed the great river to journey to Roselle Park in New Jersey, to face the recently re-formed Elizabeth Resolutes. On this hot day, Atlantic started hot, scoring in each of the first 6 innings to rout the Resolutes, 29-5. Flash had a double and triple among his 5 hits, along with 4 aces, to lead Atlantic. TC (triple, 5 aces), Shakespeare (double, 3 aces), Dreambucket (triple, 5 aces), and Willy Mo each had 4 hits. Wildhorse added a double and triple as Tree held down Resolute to pick up his 6th victory without a loss.

The heat seemed to take its toll in the second game, as Atlantic mustered only 6 hits for 6 runs through the first 8 innings, holding a 6-4 lead. Atlantic then scored an insurance run in the top of the 9th, needing to hold off Resolute in their 9th for the win, but Resolute fought back, scoring 3 times to tie the score, then completing the comeback by scoring again to claim an 8-7 thriller. Seven different Atlantics had a hit each, but Atlantic couldn't sustain its offense, as Resolute played much better defense this second game.

Atlantic set sail for Providence, Rhode Island, for a weekend of games against long-time friend and rival, the Grays. In two toughly fought contests, Atlantic squeaked by both times, taking the 1864 game 9-8 with 3 clutch aces in the 8th inning, and taking the 1884 game 9-6 with 4 clutch runs in the 7th. In the first game, Flash led Atlantic with 3 hits, including a double and a monstrous home run that cleared the distant fence. Shakespeare and Toothpick also had 3 hits each, with Pigtail picking up the victory.

In the second game, Atlantic managed just 9 hits, with Toothpick collecting 2 of them, but were able to put 4 of them together in the 7th inning to secure the victory. Shakespeare held the Grays scoreless the final 4 innings in gaining the victory.

On Sunday, the Atlantics and Grays again faced off in an 1884 contest, but this time the setting was beautiful McCoy Stadium, home of the Pawtucket Red Sox. Playing against a time limit, the game went into the 6th inning before we were forced to vacate the field for the other game. Fittingly, the score stood at 8-8, and both teams came off the field with a feeling of accomplishment. Shakespeare led Atlantic both with his bat and with his arm, hitting safely 3 times, and taming the Grays. TC, Hammy, and Tuna each had 2 hits, while Hawk contributed a triple.

Atlantic first played the Greensboro Patriots, a relatively new team, and coasted to a 24-0 victory. Dreambucket went 5 for 5 with a double, a triple, and 5 aces to lead Atlantic. Toothpick (3 aces) and Flash (triple, 4 aces) had 3 hits each. Tree tossed the shutout to pick up the win.

Atlantic's second opponent was the Cincinnati Red Stockings. This game stayed close for 6 innings until Atlantic drew ahead with 11 runs over the final 3 innings to take a 16-4 win. TC (2 aces), Shakespeare (double, 3 aces), Money (2 aces), and Pigtail all had 3 hits for Atlantic. Hammy tamed the Red Stockings to gain the victory.

Atlantic's third opponent was the host Huntersville Boll Weevils, also a relatively new team, but they certainly didn't play like one as they gave Atlantic a tough battle. Atlantic scored 4 runs in its 1st inning, highlighted by Flash's home run, then turned on the defense to prevail, 6-1, but with much respect for the Boll Weevils. TC led Atlantic with 3 hits, a single, double, triple, and 2 aces. Shakespeare and Dreambucket had 2 hits and an ace each. Pigtail picked up the victory.

Sunday's first opponent was the Ohio Village Muffins, a team Atlantic had faced several times in the past. This early morning contest started slowly, but once again Atlantic came through, taking an 11-3 victory. TC (2 aces), Dreambucket (ace), Hawk (2 aces), Butcher, and Pigtail all had 2 hits for Atlantic. Hammy picked up the victory.

Atlantic's final opponent was the Greenfield Village Lah-De-Dahs. This was another game that stayed close the first 5 innings, and again the Atlantic bats came through to score 7 late runs to secure the 11-5 victory. Shakespeare went 4 for 4 with 3 aces to lead Atlantic. Toothpick had 3 hits, with 2 doubles and 2 aces. TC, Dreambucket, Flash, and Money had 2 hits each. Pigtail picked up the victory.

Atlantic finished 5-0 as the top seed and the Lah-De-Dahs took the second seed on the tie-breakers, so they faced off once again in the Championship Match. Atlantic scored 3 quick runs in its first inning, then both teams put on a defensive show, each allowing the opponent only 2 single runs the rest of the way. Atlantic emerged on top, 5-2, and claimed the Championship. Dreambucket had 3 hits and 2 aces for Atlantic. Shakespeare, Butcher, and Tree contributed 2 hits apiece. Tree pitched the gem to pick up the victory.
